3 million cheers to Wikipedia!

Posted by Deirdre Iams-McGuire at 15:50 on Wed, Mar 10, 2010

I was researching the history of semaphore for a project in school, and I was reading about non-maritime uses. It said something about it being used in books about adventurous children. The example they gave was Swallows and Amazons!!! I was so happy! They have a nice page about the books.

That is great news.

Don't forget Deidre as a TARSUS junior you can win a full set of the Swallows and Amazons Books all 12 copies by writing an essay as mentioned in our Google Group.

Maybe you already have done so in which case good luck!

Robin -

I'd guess this applies only to US Juniors for many reasons. Could I put it into Outlaw though - due out mid April.

Deirdre -

I'm also wondering whether to plug the Junior TARS Yahoo site, as if Microsoft have bought Yahoo it should be guaranteed a fairly long life. There's already quite a few pictures and back copies of Outlaw on there, so it would be a shame to ditch it.

Actually I need to add a page of website links which would include Wikipaedia

Thanks Rob, owing to shipping costs Ike Stephenson who is donating the books in memory of his father Capt Ike lll , felt he had to limit it to TARSUS at least for the time being, I will send you details via email, at the moment the response has been slow to say the least maybe all the juniors already have a set of the books.
