Emoticons

Posted by Rob Boden at 19:38 on Mon, Jan 05, 2009

I happened to notice someone use what I believe is called an emoticon at the end of an email message - it went something like  ;)

This set me thinking whether there was something more suitable for TARS, so this is my attempt at one

(:|)  X

It might be better if you could use a larger font for the crossed bones!

Happy New Year

Well how did that happen? I used ordinary punctuation and it seems to have turned it automatically into a smiley face.

I was attempting a skull and crossbones emoticon using a bracket, then a colon, hyphen, upright and another bracket with a capital X for the crossbones. I'll try it spaced out      (   :  -  |  )     X

And if that doesn't work I'll give up,

It is a feature of this forum's software that if you make the conventional punctuation emoticons, it will transform them into an appropriate image. Lets see what happens

  ":-)" goes to :)   ":-("  goes to   :(     ";-)" goes to   ;)

Cool!   Mine didn't work either! I was typing a book report, and if you type -> it turns into an arrow, and the opposite way. I also hit some key and then a whole selection of smiley faces came up, including a ship wheel and a skull and cross bones.
