Des Kelsall

I have just learned of the passing of Des Kelsall in New Zealand.  Des and his brother Dick starred in AR's 'Hollywoods', the photos taken to help make his drawings more accurate.

As a new member I have just got involved with forums and noticed the mention of Des Kelsall's passing in NZ. In 2005 my wife and I travelled to his home town of Havelock North from here in Hamilton NZ after finding out about his living here with his Kiwi bride. Des was in fine fettle then and he  gladly posed for photos and I have pictures of him signing my early S&A and SD books. He even wrote in them appropriately. For instance in a SD fly leaf opposite page showing "The Original Ships Papers" he wrote  "70 years later - Best wishes Bob". This was in reference to the fact both Kelsall boys helped with the Ships Parrot marking among other things.
