The majority of the trek is tracked or grassland. The pace will be leisurely, as there is a lot of Dartmoor to be seen and enjoyed. If the explorers demand, a trip to Cranmere Pool can be included. This is the site of the original Dartmoor Letterbox, and would only add another half a mile to the expedition.
Please dress sensibly: walking boots are essential and waterproofs should be brought as the weather can change quickly on the moor and we could be up to two hours away from shelter. Bring a packed lunch and plenty of grog if the sun is up and about. As this is a longer walk than usual, there will not be a quiz afterwards, though we will still go to a pub for refreshments.
Meet at 10.15am for a 10.30am start at the Rattletrap anchorage: SX 622 938 on the outskirts of Belstone Village, 10 minutes from Okehampton and 30 minutes from Exeter via the A30.
There is no need to book, just turn up on the day. All family and friends who enjoy walking are welcome. If you want further information, contact John on 01392-439685.
