Centre Stage for "We Didn't Mean to go to Sea"
East Anglia's regional touring company, Eastern Angles, will be performing a new stage version of "We Didn't Mean to go to Sea" this summer.
This new adaptation by Nick Wood will run from Thursday, 3rd July to Saturday, 2nd August at a variety of venues in the Ipswich area. Full details and online bookings are available at the Eastern Angles website.
The play will premier in a specially-constructed marquee on Ipswich's waterfront on July 3rd. Assuming that the real Goblin, alias Nancy Blackett, returns from her voyage to Falmouth in time, she may be be present in Ipswich to form a fitting backdrop to the play. See the Nancy Blackett Trust website for updates on her progress.
Eastern Angles' Artistic Director Ivan Cutting says that they are "really excited about staging an adaptation of We Didn’t Mean to Go to Sea – this Arthur Ransome book is a real hidden treasure with loads of theatrical possibilities and a story that is firmly rooted in Suffolk. We are especially looking forward to performing the show in the nautical atmosphere of Ipswich’s thriving Waterfront area as part of the IP-Art festival."
