Arthur Ransome is perhaps best known for his "Swallows and Amazons" series of books, first published between 1930 - 1947, all of which remain in print to this day.
There was much more to Arthur Ransome than these books alone. He was a journalist, literary critic, biographer, story-teller, keen fisherman, sailor and even a spy. Read more.
The Arthur Ransome Society (TARS) was formed in 1990 in order to celebrate and promote his life and works. Whilst based in the UK, TARS has members in some thirty countries around the world, including Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and the USA. Find out more.
The TARS website provides regular updated information on the Society, as well as news and events, for use by both prospective and existing members. It also aims to be a useful resource on Arthur Ransome - his books, his life, the locations and characters featured in his writing, and other related information of interest.
We hope you enjoy your visit.
